Tervetuloa! Willkommen! – hieß es heute im SASKY College of Service in Tampere. Die Schulleiterin des College, Nina Ollila, und die internationale Koordinatorin des SASKY Municipal Education and Training Consortium, Sirpa Uotila, stellten uns bei Kaffee und Lakritzbonbons ihre Schulen vor und erläuterten das finnische Schulsystem sowie die Berufsausbildung. Anschließend durften wir im Unterricht bei der Einführung in die Programmierung mit Unity hospitieren. Die Schule setzt hier auf die Zusammenarbeit mit außerschulischen Lernpartnern und setzt Mitarbeiter aus IT-Unternehmen als Dozenten ein. Nach dem reichhaltigen Mittagessen in der hauseigenen Kantine, in der das Essen von angehenden Köchen zubereitet wird, konnten wir unser Bild der Schule bei einer Führung durch das Haus abrunden. Der „Cave“ sorgte dann bei allen für Überraschung. So wird ein kleiner Raum genannt, in dem technisch bestens ausgerüstet E-Sports unterrichtet wird. Dabei geht es jedoch nicht nur darum, strategisch klug durch Computerspiele zu finden, wie uns der Lehrer Jarno Haapaniemi versicherte. Auch gesunde Ernährung und Übungen zur Stärkung der Rückenmuskulatur gehören hier zum Fach. Jarno gab uns anschließend auch einen Überblick über die Vielzahl von Lernplattformen, die am College von Lehrern und Schülern erfolgreich genutzt werden.
Nach dieser Informationsflut durften wir schließlich bei einem Waldspaziergang zum Aussichtsturm Pyynikki etwas entspannen und nach 163 Stufen den grandiosen Blick über das herbstliche Tampere und seine Seen genießen. Tampere begeisterte uns aber nicht nur von oben. Auch beim Bummel durch die Altstadt beeindruckten uns die alten Backsteingebäude (ehemalige Industrieanlagen), denen durch kulturelle Nutzung neues Leben eingehaucht wurde. Schnell wurde es dunkel und die Stadt erstrahlte im Lichterglanz. Am Ende des Tages hatten wir nicht nur viel über das Bildungssystem und die Stadt Tampere gelernt, wir konnten auf die Frage „Mitä kuuluu? Wie geht´s?“ nun auch mit „Hyvää. Gut.“ antworten. Ein beeindruckender Tag ging zu Ende.

Tervetuloa! Welcome at the SASKY College of Science in Tampere. Today the principal of the college, Nina Ollila, and the coordinator of the SASKY Municipal Education and Training Consortium, Sirpa Uotila, introduced their school to us and informed about the Finnish system of education and the vocational training. During that we enjoyed a cup of coffee and licorice. After that we were given a chance to watch a lesson introducing programming with Unity. Here the school cooperates with partners from outside and employs lecturers from different IT-businesses. After a rich lunch in the school-owned cafeteria, where trainees prepare the food, we could collect some more impressions on a tour through the house. All were surprised by a room called “the cave”. It was a technically highly equipped room in which students are taught in e-sports. But this is not only about using strategy to succeed in a computer game, as teacher Jarno Haapaniemi explained. Students are also taught about a healthy nutrition and exercises in order to strengthen the muscles that hold up your spine. Jarno also gave us a survey on the various learning platforms that are used at the college by students and teachers as well.
After that enormous input of information we could relax on a walk to a viewing tower called Pyynikki. We went up the 163 steps to the top and enjoyed a great and amazing view over Tampere and its lakes. But Tampere was not only beautiful from above. On a walk through the city we were impressed by the old brick buildings that were once factories. Today most of them are used by different start-ups. Soon it was getting dark and the city was illuminated by thousands of lights. At the end of the day we had not only learned a lot about the Finnish school system, we were also able to answer the question “Mitä kuuluu?” what means “How are you?” with “Hyvää” what means “fine”. So an amazing day came to an end.
